Holiday 2025

I got pulled into this AMP shoot as extra hands on a massive set. A-team running YouTube, B-team handling TONE. Smaller crew, real pressure, no room for mistakes. Three days in, I’m moving gear, grabbing BTS, vibing with the crew, and keeping an eye on sound. Day two? I catch that two of the AMP members are about to roll mic-less. That would’ve been a post-production nightmare, so I flagged it immediately and we fixed it before anyone said “action.” What really hit me was seeing how creators at that level move. Big warehouse, celebrities on standby, money getting reinvested straight back into ideas. It felt like a crash course in how modern creators run real productions, not just content. Lowkey flipped a switch in my head about how I want to build and produce my own stuff going forward.

The Situation & The Goal

  • AMP (a major streamer/content creator collective) launched an official holiday giveaway campaign with Target for their direct-to-consumer hygienics brand, Tone.

  • Campaign concept:

    • Fans/customers purchase the holiday scent

    • One winner is selected to hang out with AMP members

    • Content featured the winner in real-life settings (bathroom, bedroom, car) with AMP members appearing in-scene

  • AMP was running a multi-day, large-scale production split into:

  • A-Production: High-concept YouTube content

  • B-Production: Direct-to-consumer campaign for AMP’s hygienics brand, Tone

  • B-Production operated with a small, lean crew while shooting multiple short-form and promotional deliverables.

  • Goal:

    • Capture clean, usable audio and visuals under tight timelines

    • Keep the smaller B-unit running smoothly alongside a high-pressure A-unit

    • Avoid post-production complications (ADR, reshoots) with extremely busy talent

Process & Key Actions

  • Supported day-to-day production operations across a 4–5 day shoot, working 3 full days on set to improve crew efficiency and flow.

  • Collaborated directly with Director Lanre Danmola, gaining exposure to a high-level commercial workflow informed by his experience with brands like Meta/Facebook.

  • Handled audio utility responsibilities, including:

    • Setting up and monitoring prosumer microphone systems for B-Production

    • Managing lavalier placement and signal integrity for on-camera talent

  • Prevented a critical production failure on Day 2 by identifying that two featured AMP members were rolling without microphones and alerting the team before takes progressed.

  • Managed microphone setup for the lead actor/character on Day 3, ensuring consistent audio capture across scenes.

  • Assisted with equipment movement and set logistics, helping the small B-unit operate efficiently within a large warehouse production environment.

  • Captured behind-the-scenes photo and video content, contributing to internal documentation and networking.

  • Actively networked with crew members, observing professional set etiquette and celebrity-adjacent workflows.

Results

  • Avoided costly ADR and post-production delays by catching missing microphones before scenes were completed.

  • Ensured clean, usable dialogue capture for multiple campaign deliverables across short-form and promotional content Tied to a national Target giveaway campaign.

  • Helped stabilize a small B-production team operating alongside a major YouTube production, contributing to smoother daily execution.

  • Delivered production support across multiple shoot days without disrupting the fast-paced schedule of high-profile talent.

  • Gained firsthand experience on a celebrity-scale set, observing how creator-led brands allocate budgets, crew size, and space to maximize content output.

Personal Takeaways & Skills Gained

  • Developed real-world production instincts, especially around anticipating problems before they become expensive mistakes.

  • Strengthened audio utility and on-set sound awareness, particularly in fast-moving, non-traditional production environments.

  • Learned how lean crews operate effectively within larger, high-budget productions.

  • Gained insight into how top-tier content creators reinvest revenue into:

    • Large production crews

    • Warehouse-scale studio spaces

    • Simultaneous long-form, short-form, and promotional content pipelines

  • Applied lessons directly to future goals of producing internal projects, original IP, and independent content with higher production value.
